Reading on the go
Some thoughts on reading while on different forms of transportation
Airplane
3/5 - In theory this is a great setting but falls flat the moment you're on the plane. The seats are tiny and uncomfortable and there's the horrible airplane sound to contend with
I'm sure the experience in first class is better but that ain't my tax bracket so
Eurostar
4/5 - Smooth with fairly smooth with minimal interruptions. Loses a point since there's a non-zero chance you end up next to a crying kid the entire journey and you can't move because of assigned seating
Intercity (new)
5/5 - Super smooth, comfy seats with nice tables if you can get one. Not too many stops which keeps interruptions minimal
Intercity (old)
3/5 - Loses a point since they're usually pretty busy and might not be possible to get a seat. Loses another point since the trains are also pretty nasty depending on the day and time which affects the overall ambiance
These also tend to run on the busier lines where I travel and so there's also a good chance you might not get a seat
Sprinter
2/5 - Too many stops, no time to actually focus. Too many disruptions and people moving around all the time
Tram
1/5 - PSA please don't read on a tram you will miss your stop
Bus
1/5 - Way too bumpy and ugh motion sickness
Car
2/5 - Less bumpy but still ugh motion sickness
Cycling
0/5 - Also they will fine you and you will go to jail. Don't recommend
